Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, connecting Trans-Europe and Trans-Asia railway networks through Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey, was founded on November 21, 2007. Given the international reputation of the project and its importance for the country, the Central Bank of Azerbaijan issued into circulation high caliber silver commemorative coins dedicated to the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway.
The commemorative coins were minted at the “Royal Mint” of Great Britain.
The face of the coin depicts the words “BAKU-TBILISI-KARS” and a train, the back presents the national emblem of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
