The Central Bank released commemorative coins in 2009 with respect to the 85th anniversary of establishment of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, which has an ancient history, rich culture and an important role in the development of the Azerbaijani statehood.

The face of the coin depicts the images of historical monuments situated in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, the back presents the map of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
